Plagiarized History
A new addition designed to blend in with the stonework
of the Campanile is a presentation of art work in the form of fresques (see above)
which supposedly expresses the history of the Xhosa nation complete with a poem
inscribed below it – so many tears. Being a lover of history I always
appreciate acurate historical content rather than a rewritten one presented as
a feeling.
The Campanile was built as a monument to the
contribution the 1820 Settlers made to South Africa. However this is disputed
in the way history is presented in the fresque.
A quick perusal of the art work highlights buildings, books, pens, spectacles, machined metal
rod, wheel, table, “sailors hat”, pipework, sportsmen, a great book of Judgement, and clothing. And what would
all this art be without a Caucasian woman at the side of a black man?
So in 1820 we never arrived to virgin grass lands to
which we added for the first time hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, schools,
universities, automobiles, dams, etc, etc, etc. Additionally no mention
is made of the Xhosa self - inflicted Genocide (see Great Cattle Killing) and how
this should never be repeated in history again.
Why?
