Cape Colony and the Eastern Cape 1876

The woman standing above the crest depicts a virgin which evokes the meaning of chastity , purity and wisdom.

The anchor she is holding represents the Christian Faith.

The Lion within the crest represents the people of Christian European Heritage. This symbol can also be found in British and American Emblems where there is an inter-relationship between the Lion and the Eagle alluded to in Biblical Prophecy.
