The 'Baakens Bistro' Algoa Bay Port Elizabeth

Recently I visited the Baakens Bistro having read about the history of the building they are housed in. If my memory serves me correctly one of the owners said it was built in 1884. The Baakens Valley has been completely cleaned up with new buildings popping up, including the one now being built for Algoa FM.

The Baakens Bistro is a welcoming earthy experience with none of the cheap glitzy decor you will find in some coffee shops. You will also fit in with young university graduates and office colleagues who frequent the place, ideal venue for opening your laptop for an hours work while you enjoy their coffee and cakes. I found everything perfect; coffee, cakes, friendly staff, chatty and welcoming owners. Above all you will find it clean and viby in the original Harbour Masters house.
