Christian Missionary David Livingstone Algoa Bay Port Elizabeth

Many Christians may not know that Port Elizabeth was the arrival point of the Missionary David Livingstone. This man loved the LORD and gave his life to the service of Africa even though he was born in Scotland. He stayed for some time in Algoa Bay, Port Elizabeth, before moving inland and then into unreached areas of Africa.

THANKSGIVING

I’m filled with praise for You, dear Lord, so much for me You’ve done,
And even though I’ve been so blessed, You’ve only just begun;
I’ve seen so many people who are lost and all alone
who suffer want in many ways which I have never known.

Thank You Lord for everything – the family I love
and all the special blessings which You send from up above,
My health, my strength, my food, my clothes, the friends whom I hold dear,
The land where I can worship You, in freedom, without fear.

Thank You for the work I have and when at times I’m bored
Remind me of the hungry, and the sick and poor, please Lord,
And when it seems an effort to do the thing I do,
Give me an awareness that I’m doing it for you.

Thank You for my lovely home and for the love that’s shown,
So many pleasant memories; and joy I’ve always known.
Thank You for the happy times, the teasing, fun and laughter,
All these precious moments I’ll remember ever after.

Thank You, Lord, above all else, for dying just for me,
For saving me from hopelessness, and setting me quite free,
For choosing me to be Your child and for Your loving touch,
Oh, how I wish I had the grace to love You just as much.

Just why You are so good to me, I don’t quite understand,
And yet deep down within my soul, I know that You have planned
for me to serve You somewhere, in some unusual way,
And You will give me strength and grace and guide me every day.

And though at times my path gets rough and everything goes wrong,
And when I think it’s hopeless to even carry on;
I thank You too for times like these – for problems great and small
For then it’s very clear to me You hand is over all.

Blacks Trash Respected British Icons Algoa Bay Port Elizabeth

Hate slogans

Quote:
“British Queen Victoria’s century-old statue in Port Elizabeth was daubed in slogans warning UK citizens to get the hell out of South Africa – in an angry response to perceived slights by the UK news media targeting South African president Jacob Zuma during his state-visit to the UK”.

In typical disrespect blacks have again trashed respected historical icons. Blacks are known for their ferocity whenever they can’t get their way. Recently they have necklaced (set alight) and murdered other blacks in what the media have termed xenophobic attacks (read - racist attacks), but this racism by them is not limited to black on black violence only, but also against local whites, and white foreigners, who have visited and invested in this country. Thinking about coming to South Africa for the 2010 World Soccer? Perhaps this is the time to re-think your position as you could potentially expose yourself to becoming yet another senseless MURDER and RAPE statistic. Don’t be surprised, simply understand that this is the way they behave.

Quote:
“In Port Elizabeth, which boasts one of the richest collections of Victorian, Georgian and Edwardian architecture in the country, we went through a stage where certain politicians were hell-bent not only on renaming the city, but also on getting rid of some of the reminders - in the form of public monuments - that the city was largely the product of British settlers who arrived nearly 190 years ago”. Kin Bently

These attacks on South Africa’s historical Heritage are similar to “The Great Leap Forward”, Moa’s Red Chinese Communist Revolution, where everything from books to humans were destroyed to usher in the new order!

What is Love? (15) Algoa Bay Port Elizabeth

You hear this word from day to day,
It’s uttered in the same old way,
But what it means, you haven’t a clue,
If you think you know, is that meaning true?

For love is something quite unique,
It can be bold and it can be meek,
It can make you happy, and it can make you cry,
It can hurt you so much, yet without it, you’d die.

It will come to each person at some time or other,
And usually causes a great deal of bother,
You may win other battles, but with love meet your match,
For love is just like can itch you can’t scratch.

Love is giving, asking nothing in return,
It comes quite naturally, you don’t have to learn,
When you’re in love, you can fight it, in vain,
For when love has arrived, then love will remain.

But although love at first can bring heartbreak and tears,
True love always wins, for this have no fears,
When you’re REALLY in love, that love just won’t fall,
Or else it couldn’t have been love at all.

If you think your loving is all in vain,
And causes nothing but anguish and pain,
Remember – God has planned someone for you
If you’ll only just wait, you’ll find love that’s true!

Love is helpful, kind and true,
Sweet, unselfish and pure, through and through,
Merciful, tender, honest and caring,
happy, contented, eternally sharing.

If your love stands the test of above,
Then you can know that it really is love,
And when you’re in love, you will always endeavour
to be true to your loved one forever and ever.

GOD Cares (14) Algoa Bay Port Elizabeth

I walked along a forest path,
The air was fresh and sweet,
And then I heard a plaintive squeak,
And something fell at my feet.

I bent down with a murmured cry,
For on the ground there lay
A tiny sparrow with a broken wing,
It could no longer play.

I gathered it gently in my hands,
It lay warm and trembling there,
I put my lips to its feathers
to show it that I did care.

It looked at me with frightened eyes,
Its heart was beating fast.
I held it gently as I walked
Till all the trembling passed.

And as I walked the forest path,
This thought came to my mind,
If God cared for this little bird
how good He was, and kind.

And if He cared for this little bird
With its tiny, broken wing,
How much more must He care for me,
my Saviour, Lord and King.

I have recently tried to find the meaning of the Latin by using a Latin - English translator tool but it can only translate a portion of the meaning as some Latin words are obscure. If there are any folk with knowledge of Latin and can translate the meaning I would really like to know. Loosely translated, I think it conveys this message, "Courageously settle in an unknown land".

HE PROS AND CONS OF BEING SINGLE

PROS
You can read all night if that’s what you’d like,
Without considering Jack, John or Mike;
You can hog the whole bed and not have to care
that you’ve got all the blankets, for you don’t have to share.

You can sleep all day when the weekends come,
and don’t have to think of your hubby’s tum,
If you don’t feel like cooking, you can eat jam and bread,
or, if you are hungry, you can eat out instead.

You can wear anything and don’t need consent
from fussy husbands, who may not relent
when they see the outfits you’d like to buy,
and to your pleading, they turn a blind eye.

You can do what you wish, whatever it be,
No matter how crazy, there’s no-one to see
if you tidy your cupboards at twelve every night,
wear curlers to bed, and look quite a sight.

You can go where you like and feel quite free
to visit your friends each evening for tea,
If you feel like a trip to the ‘States, you can go
(providing there’s cash) but he can’t say no.

You can spend what you want on things you may see
to which stingy husbands would never agree;
Your money is yours, to use on yourself,
So these are the “pros” while you sit on the shelf.

CONS
Not always a hanky that’s big, clean and dry,
No shoulder to use when you want a good cry;
Nobody near when you need him the most;
Nobody to smile when you burn all the toast.

There’s no-one to tell you how to behave
when you stuff yourself with the food you crave,
On your own you forget yourself and just eat
‘til you’re bloated and bilious and can’t see your feet.

It’s great to have someone buy you a steak,
And to solve all the problems (which sometimes you make!)
For when the time comes when you find that you’re broke,
then a husband can be a wonderful bloke.

Yes, hubbies are handy, I’m sure you’ll agree
for unlocking doors when you’ve lost your key,
For killing the spiders that frighten you so,
And fixing your car that refuses to go.

-46-
There’s no-one to talk to late in the night
when you find you can’t sleep, ‘til he puts things right;
Husbands are useful for easing the tension –
besides other things (which I won’t dare to mention!)

No-one to scrub your back in the bath,
To undo stuck zips, or share a good laugh,
No gallant man to come to your aid,
These are the “cons” when you’re an “old maid.”

AN AFTERTHOUGHT

Are babies a `pro’ or a `con’ – who knows?
But rest assured, from their head to their toes,
When the nappies are clean, and they give you that smile,
There’s nothing that’s sweeter, or more worthwhile

International Businessmen and Investors Beware!!! Algoa Bay Port Elizabeth

Quote:
"The overwhelming support which was received at the last ANC-conference in Polokwane/Pietersburg for its troika-partner - the SA Communist Party proposal to alienate all the privately-held properties in South Africa – including all its private homes in the cities; the mines; all the farmland and private game-reserves and all the businesses, was definitely a wake-up call for the rulng ANC-leadership. Love (14) Algoa Bay Port Elizabeth

Love was there when the world was started,
And love was put in the heart of man,
Love was the thing which kept the world going,
Love was God’s own perfect plan.

Love is a precious and wonderful thing
which sets someone’s heart aglow,
Love is a pleasant, unimpatient thing,
which makes us love both friend and foe.

We all love someone, though we may try
to fight against this love.
But how can we stop all this loving
When the love comes from above?

Love is warm and exciting
It drives one right round the bend,
And the one who we fall in love with
Is the one on whom we depend.

Love should never be jealous,
But kind and helpful and true,
And when at last we find we’re in love
That person should love us too.
