The Storms River Bridge is a spectacular structure bridging a huge chasm that would otherwise have been almost insurmountable to the traveller. It reminds me of issues in life where, without social bridges, we are unable to move forward. But the Storms River Bridge has a dark side too. Said to be in an area where covens operate, many depressed people find their way there and commit suicide by jumping over the side of the bridge. A phone has been erected to help people, who consider this as a way out of their problems,to phone a Life Line counsellor. I have been told that the last count of victims was over seventy. A lot of Christian activity also takes place here, and Christians from various churches have even erected a Cross on one side on the hill reminding the mentally ill that there is hope in JESUS.
