Watch and Pray (27) Algoa Bay Port Elizabeth

It was a dark and bitter night and You were so alone
Your friends were there and yet – somehow – You still were on your own,
With drops of blood upon Your brow, in prayer upon Your knees,
while Peter, James and John were fast asleep beneath the trees.

How weak Your children really are – so many times they fall,
Yet You still use them to fulfill Your purpose – one and all,
The spirit is so willing, but the flesh fails every day,
which is why You urge Your children to forever WATCH AND PRAY.

Lord Jesus, when You walked this earth – so human, so divine,
You knew the same afflictions and faced problems just like mine;
Your prayer of anguish in the garden has so much to say,
For if You needed God so much, I too need WATCH AND PRAY.

O Lord, as every new day dawns, and I would rather sleep
than wake to spend that time with You (a precious hour to keep);
How can I lie too long in bed then hope to face the day
with trials and temptations, if I don’t WATCH AND PRAY.
